I’m glad to read that you’re coming out of a painful ebb. These are beautiful ideas. I’m sure many will find solidarity and support in your words. Crying/cussing has been a big help to me recently as I was never encouraged to express my feelings as a kid and cussing was definitely not allowed. Lol. Someone I follow on insta calls them “holy tantrums” 😂😂
Thank you, Lindsey! I love that you've found solace in crying/cussing, especially since that freedom wasn't always available to you. "Holy tantrums" is such a perfect way to describe this experience!
So much wisdom here, dear heart. I'm grateful to hear that you're coming out of this painful time. What a testament to your bright spirit that you should nourish your readers even in the midst of it.
Thank you, so much, Kandi, for writing about this. You are such a conscious person that I knew you must have meaningful ways to handle pain. Sometimes when it’s extreme and intense, there’s nothing to do but curl up, hold ourselves where it hurts and alternately curse and cry out to whatever we consider divine. But there is also long term lower level pain; dealing with it in meaningful ways that don’t leave us depressed and discouraged is important. Giving oneself permission to only do so much in a day (allocating spoons) and no more is a good one. Hearing one’s body and giving it loving attention seems really wise too. I have tended to dissociate from my body, which can be good for survival at times but not for overall growth and well being. I really especially love your emergency wonder ideas--ways to remind ourselves that there is joy and beauty and we can seek it out as a counterbalance when pain is present. For you I’m so glad that you have these wise strategies and that right now, your pain is phasing down. Thank you again for sharing.
